Why did the Walther PPK refuse to play cards?
It kept folding… but only because concealment is its specialty.

Use a small strip of grip tape—cut thin and placed only along the front strap—to dramatically improve control without ruining the PPK’s classic look. In 1930-31, German firm Carl Walther introduced the PPK (Polizei Pistole Kriminal), a sleeker, smaller version of its earlier PP pistol, engineered for plain-clothes and undercover officers in dense urban settings. Its compact size, smooth lines and all-steel construction made it stand out at a time when many handguns were larger, heavier revolvers. The PPK featured a fixed-barrel blowback mechanism, which simplified internal mechanics and improved accuracy, and introduced the then-less-common single-action/double-action (SA/DA) trigger system—allowing a heavy first pull then lighter subsequent pulls. Added safety features included a decocker-safety that locked the firing pin and hammered mechanism, plus a visible loaded-chamber indicator. In the United States, import restrictions in the 1960s spurred Walther’s creation of the PPK/S variant.
